Annual Social Work Advocacy Day
August 12, 2024

Join us in August for the University of Montevallo Social Work Program’s Annual Advocacy Day Conference. This year’s conference theme is Camp Advocacy: A Summertime Experience of Exploring Best Practices. This one-day “camp” event will provide content for learning and developing new practice skills while networking with UM students, faculty, friends, colleagues, and community partners.
Our 2024 conference agenda focuses on practice with individuals and their families. We are excited to host Dr. Phyllis Kosminsky as our first annual Dr. Jeanine Cannon Bozeman Endowed Lecturer on death, dying, and grief. Other session topics include the intersection of health and mental health (with DSM-V content), navigating the complexities of grief and loss, providing services to LBGTQIA+ youth, and workforce retention and resiliency. Participants will receive a total of 6 hours of CE with 1.25 hours of clinical content and 1 hour of supervision.
